Franz Cibulka schrieb s’Zwitscherl zunächst als Solostück für Klarinette mit Akkordeon oder Klavier. Cibulka selbst hat die Komposition als Charakterstück bezeichnet, in dem ein launenhafter, capprizioeser Vogel beschrieben wird.
Im Jahr 2015 arrangierte er die Komposition dann als Version für zwei Klarinetten und Klavier, also s’Zwitscherl für Zwei, aus Anlass eines Klarinetten-Symposiums in Portland/ Oregon.
Das neu arrangierte Stück wurde dort von den Klarinettisten Barbara Heilmair and Rolf Weber zusammen mit Kazue Tsuzuki (Klavier) uraufgeführt.
s’Zwitscherl für Zwei erscheint nun erstmals als Aufnahme von den oben genannten Musikern auf der gleichnamigen CD, „s’Zwitscherl – Music For two Clarinets and Piano„, bei Centaur.
s’Zwitscherl was originally a solo piece for clarinet with piano or accordion. According to the composer, the composition describes a small songbird expressing a variety of moods. Both the bird’s nickname (“s’Zwitscherl”) as well as the possible usage of accordion point towards Austrian folkloric elements in the piece.
In 2015, Cibulka arranged the work for two clarinets and piano on the occasion of a clarinet symposium in Portland/ Oregon. Together with pianist Kazue Tsukuzi, clarinetists Barbara Heilmair and Rolf Weber have played the premiere performance of this piece at the event.
s’Zwitscherl Für Zwei is now available as a recording for the first time on the Centaur CD „s’Zwitscherl – Music For two Clarinets and Piano„.
